Star over Bethlehem: The Beethoven Orchestra Bonn invites you to the Christmas concert
On December 23, 2026, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn will fill the Bonn Kreuzkirche with festive music. The Christmas concert Star over Bethlehem combines orchestral richness, Christmas choral music, and intimate moments between silence and light.
Christmas Sound Worlds in the Kreuzkirche
The program creates a musical bridge between heaven and earth. Works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Gustav Holst, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, and Georg Friedrich Handel meet the unique acoustics of the church space. Delicate lines, luminous orchestration, and powerful tutti passages make the festive atmosphere immediately tangible.
Orchestra, Oboe, and Youth Choir in Interaction
Gunde Hamraths will take on the oboe part, while the youth choir of the Theater Bonn will provide additional vocal colors. Ekaterina Klewitz is responsible for the preparation. At the conductor's podium, Daniel Mayr leads the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn through a program that centers on hope, community, and the joy of shared listening.
A Concert Experience Just Before Christmas Eve
The Kreuzkirche will become a resonance space for warm choral sounds, expressive instrumental passages, and contemplative moments on the evening before Christmas Eve. The live atmosphere combines the concentration of a symphony concert with the emotional closeness of a Christmas concert. The concert is expected to last until 8:00 PM.
Conclusion: Festive Music as a Shared Moment
The Christmas concert of the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn offers a spirited start to the holidays. Those who want to experience Bach, Holst, Mendelssohn Bartholdy, and Handel in unique church acoustics will find a concert full of light, sound, and communal emotions on December 23 in Bonn.
