Steigenberger Grandhotel & Spa Petersberg | Prices & Restaurant

The Steigenberger Grandhotel & Spa Petersberg is one of the most well-known addresses in the Rhineland, as it combines landscape, history, and classic grand hotel style. The hotel sits high above the Siebengebirge and the Rhine, just a few minutes from Königswinter and Bonn, and its location feels like a retreat from everyday life. At the same time, it is a place of political and cultural significance: The Petersberg was for decades the guest room of the Federal Republic, and the current hotel complex stands in the tradition of this historically significant site. Those looking for a hotel, a conference venue, or a getaway with panoramic views will find not only a strong location here but also a property with character, modern amenities, and many opportunities for enjoyment, wellness, and events. The official presentation emphasizes this mix of historical elegance, stylish rooms and suites, and views over the Rhine Valley. Photos and Information about the Steigenberger Grandhotel & Spa Petersberg

For those searching for photos and information about the Steigenberger Grandhotel & Spa Petersberg, the official H-Rewards website provides a very good impression of the hotel's diverse offerings. The site features a virtual hotel tour, numerous images from the lobby, restaurant, rooms, spa, and event areas, as well as a clear overview of the amenities. These include free Wi-Fi, spa area, swimming pool, conference rooms, fitness area, restaurant, bar, 24-hour room service, and online check-in and check-out. The hotel presentation showcases ten room categories, including Superior Double Rooms, Deluxe Double Rooms, Grand Deluxe Double Rooms, Park Suites, Rhine Suites, Executive Suites, and Presidential Suites. Room sizes vary by category, ranging from 25 to 29 square meters in the Superior category, 30 to 34 square meters in the Deluxe rooms, 35 to 45 square meters in the Grand Deluxe rooms, up to 50 to 55 square meters in the Park Suite, 50 to 61 square meters in the Rhine Suite, 73 to 78 square meters in the Executive Suite, and around 220 square meters in the Presidential Suite. The trade press describes the hotel after its extensive renovation as having 112 rooms and suites. It is clear: The location is not only a historical landmark but also a modern grand hotel with very different accommodation and booking options. ([hrewards.com](https://hrewards.com/de/steigenberger-icon-grandhotel-petersberg-koenigswinter))

For guests specifically looking for price information, the Petersberg is particularly interesting because the official booking site makes not only the ambiance but also the most important booking and service parameters transparent. Check-in is possible from 3:00 PM, check-out until 12:00 PM, and access to the spa and fitness area is already noted in the service details for selected room categories. Those who want to understand the differences between the rooms will find clear indications of areas, amenities, and views: Many categories overlook the Rhine Valley, Bonn, or the historic chapel and garden. These sightlines shape the image of the hotel and make the location attractive for travelers who want to stay consciously rather than just sleep. The interplay of a historically significant address, panoramic views, and a modern room environment also clarifies why the Petersberg is associated with search queries using terms like photos, information, and prices. The official site makes it clear that the hotel is not designed for a single target group but appeals to couples, business travelers, and guests with special demands for atmosphere, views, and comfort. Restaurants and Bar with Rhine View

The gastronomy is one of the strongest reasons why the Steigenberger Grandhotel & Spa Petersberg is so frequently sought after. The official restaurant page lists several culinary areas that together create a very broad profile: Bill's Restaurant & Grill, Charles Bistro & Café, Nelson's Bar, Biergarten Petersberg, Ferdinand, and the Vinothek Wine & Champagne. The spectrum ranges from a rich breakfast buffet to steak, fish, and seafood specialties, as well as French bistro classics, coffee and cake, light snacks, wines, and stylish cocktails. Bill's Restaurant & Grill is the elegant grill restaurant with a Rhine-view terrace and is named after Bill Clinton; the official presentation reminds us that Helmut Kohl and Bill Clinton met on the Petersberg in 1994. Charles Bistro & Café is named after Charles de Gaulle, whose state visit in September 1962 is also connected to the Petersberg. This historical anchoring adds an extra layer to the culinary experience, as each name refers to a specific political or cultural memory. Additionally, the Biergarten Petersberg offers views of Königswinter, Bonn, and the sunset over the Rhine, with space for 300 guests. This creates a gastronomic ensemble suitable for relaxed afternoons, dinners, celebrations, and special occasions. ([hrewards.com](https://hrewards.com/de/steigenberger-icon-grandhotel-petersberg-koenigswinter/restaurant-bar))

It is particularly interesting that the gastronomy here does not just function as a complement to the hotel operation but as an independent experience. The Vinothek Wine & Champagne serves as a place for tastings, wine seminars, and wine sales, while Ferdinand is positioned as a premium location for connoisseurs, combining the view of the Rhine Valley with a high-quality enjoyment world. The official presentation also mentions pop-art works by Bernd Schwarzer, which provide an additional artistic framework for Bill's Restaurant & Grill. The bar also plays an important role, as it rounds off the evening with cocktails, spirits, and selected wines. For many guests, this is crucial: Those visiting the Petersberg want to experience not only the location but a complete stay with terrace, views, cuisine, and atmosphere. This is precisely what the hotel's gastronomy delivers. Therefore, those searching for restaurant, food, or bar are actually looking for a place where the stay remains coherent from breakfast to late drinks. This demand explains why the culinary offerings are so central to the image of the grand hotel. Prices, Parking, and Arrival at Petersberg

When searching for prices, parking, and arrival, the focus at Petersberg is less on an urban city center location and more on the uniqueness of a mountain location with direct hotel access and very clear arrival data. The official arrival page mentions a parking garage directly at the hotel for €15 per day, as well as additional parking spaces for €12 per 24 hours, €8 per 8 hours, and €3 per 3 hours. Costs for buses may vary, so the hotel recommends a phone inquiry. This information is important because while the Petersberg is high above the Rhine, it is very well organized and accessible. For arrival by train, the hotel site mentions the Siegburg ICE train station 22.0 kilometers away and the Cologne main station 44 kilometers away; Cologne/Bonn Airport is 26.0 kilometers away. At the same time, the hotel description notes that Königswinter is about 6 kilometers away, the train station about 4 kilometers, and Bonn about 17 kilometers. This is relevant for hotel guests and event participants because the location consciously mediates between nature and city and is not located in the middle of a dense city center. Therefore, those searching for the Steigenberger Grandhotel & Spa Petersberg and the keyword arrival are usually looking for a mix of reach, scenic location, and clear logistics. ([hrewards.com](https://hrewards.com/de/steigenberger-icon-grandhotel-petersberg-koenigswinter/anreise-umgebung))

The location itself is an important part of the experience. Directly from the hotel, hiking trails lead through the Siebengebirge, past viewpoints and historical ruins; the route to the Heisterbach monastery ruins and the ascent to the Drachenfels are particularly highlighted. Thus, the Petersberg is suitable not only for a business meeting but also for a stay connected to nature, walks, and panoramic views. The hotel site also emphasizes that Bonn, with its culture, museums, music history, and urban flair, is quickly accessible. This combination of tranquility atop the mountain and accessibility down in the valley is one of the strongest location advantages of the property. Those searching for prices in a broader sense will therefore find not only room rates in the vicinity but also specific price information for parking, spa-related treatments, and certain offers in the area. This practical utility makes the arrival and parking information so relevant: The property is prestigious but not overwhelming. There are clear pathways, clear fees, and a location that is immediately understood upon arrival. Conferences, Events, and Weddings in the Rotunda

The Steigenberger Grandhotel & Spa Petersberg is not just a hotel for relaxation but one of the most well-known event venues in the Rhineland. The meeting & event page describes the property as a place for conferences, congresses, presentations, and private or corporate celebrations in an exclusive setting. The range of rooms is particularly strong: For large events, the official site mentions up to 500 people in the unique rotunda or ballroom, while smaller salons are available for 10 or 20 people. All meeting rooms are equipped with the latest presentation technology, and many have direct access to terraces with views over the Rhine Valley. Additionally, there is a catering service that ranges from small snacks to light buffets to a five-course menu. Those considering the property as an event location quickly recognize the added value: It is not just the backdrop but the combination of infrastructure, size, view, and service that makes the Petersberg so attractive for corporate events, conferences, and festive occasions. This mix is crucial for the search for conferences and events because users expect not only room sizes but a complete event environment. ([hrewards.com](https://hrewards.com/de/steigenberger-icon-grandhotel-petersberg-koenigswinter/meeting-event))

The room data also demonstrates the professionalism of the property. The rotunda measures 463 square meters, and the banquet hall 451 square meters. Additional salons include Rheinblick, Adenauer, Marmorsaal, Galerie, Nelson Bar, conference room, Drachenfels, and other thematically named rooms. This is valuable for event planners because it allows for different setups: large banquets, classic seating arrangements, workshops, board meetings, or more intimate formats. The official site also points out that the convention sales team is reachable and that additional framework programs or corporate incentives can be organized upon request. This is where the difference between an ordinary hotel event and a true grand hotel location becomes evident: The Petersberg is designed for representation without neglecting the functional aspect. For weddings and private celebrations, this means a special setting with an architecturally strong stage. Therefore, those searching for a location for special occasions will find not only capacity here but also staging, service, and tradition in one property. Spa, Wellness, and Fitness at Petersberg

The wellness area is another reason why the Steigenberger Grandhotel & Spa Petersberg is more than just a classic hotel for many guests. The official spa page describes a modern fitness area with views into nature, complemented by a pool offering, sauna, massages, and treatments with the partner Seven Mountain Spa & Beauty. The opening hours are clearly stated: The pool area is open daily from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, the sauna area Monday to Friday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Saturday, Sunday, and holidays from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Massages and treatments are offered daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, by appointment if desired, and the fitness area is accessible daily from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM. These times are important for guests because they make the stay very planable and show that wellness is not treated as a secondary matter here. Rather, it is a genuine component of the overall offering. Therefore, those searching for spa, wellness, or fitness will find not only a beautiful view but a thoughtfully designed program of movement, relaxation, and treatment options. ([hrewards.com](https://hrewards.com/de/steigenberger-icon-grandhotel-petersberg-koenigswinter/wellness-spa))

Particularly interesting is the connection between relaxation and health expertise. The spa page refers to the attached SKOLAMED health center, where further check-ups can be arranged from Monday to Saturday by appointment. This means that the property is not only aimed at classic holiday guests but also at people who want to combine wellness with prevention and health. The atmosphere of the Petersberg supports this profile because the location above the Rhine already has a calming effect upon arrival. Additionally, the quality of the application partners positions the property as a place for relaxation with high standards. The wellness area fits very well with the grand hotel character: it is quiet, high-quality, and clearly organized. Those planning a weekend, business trip, or special stay can combine movement, relaxation, and therapeutic applications in one property. This also makes the Petersberg so interesting from an SEO perspective, as search terms like wellness, spa, and fitness do not occur in isolation but are embedded in a larger experience world. History of the Petersberg and the Former Guest House

Few other hotel locations in Germany connect landscape and history as strongly as the Petersberg. The city of Königswinter describes the mountain as a place with a tumultuous past: Celtic-Germanic refuge, medieval monastery settlement, pilgrimage site, and later a site of quarries for basalt extraction until around 1900. An exclusive hotel has existed there since 1889; at times, even a cog railway led to the summit. After World War II, the mountain hotel became the seat of the Allied High Commission and was used as a guest house by the Federal Government from the 1950s for numerous heads of state. The official venue page complements this image with the note that the Petersberg was for decades the guest room of the Federal Republic and that the Federal Government used the hotel as a guest house for state guests from 1954 to 1969. This historical context explains why the site is still so well-known: It was the venue for international politics and at the same time a scenic point with extraordinary presence. Therefore, when visiting the Petersberg, one does not simply enter a hotel but a piece of German post-war history and representative state culture. ([koenigswinter.de](https://www.koenigswinter.de/de/Medieninformationen/historische-wanderung-petersberg-spuren-steinhauern-wallfahrern-staatsgaesten-zahnradbahn.html))

Among the most well-known political moments is the Petersberg Agreement, which was signed on November 22, 1949, at the Petersberg guest house and shaped the path of the young Federal Republic towards western integration. Later state visits and diplomatic meetings have also permanently influenced the image of the house. Today, the Petersberg venue in the former guardhouse conveys this history in a multimedia exhibition and complements it with a view of nature and protected areas. The mountain itself, at about 336 meters high, is prominently visible above the Siebengebirge and was named after a chapel consecrated in the 18th century. This closes the circle between landscape, religion, representation, and modern hospitality. From an SEO perspective, this historical density is valuable because it gives the Petersberg a profile that goes far beyond an ordinary grand hotel. Therefore, those searching for information will find not only hotel content here but a place that has been bringing together political history, hiking culture, views, and hospitality for generations. We had a lovely stay. It was a brilliant mix of exclusivity, connection to nature, and really a pleasant experience for all my senses. The room was neat, spacious with an amazing view of the Rhein. A welcome surprise was the pillow menu that allowed you to pick out a more comfortable pillow to suit your needs, however room service could make some improvements in terms of housekeeping. The rooms also tend to get really warm. The breakfast buffet has a huge variety of delicious options and the wellness area was peaceful, not crowded and quite relaxing.

A beautiful castle hotel steeped in history and overlooking the Rhine Valley. The approach up the winding road is breathtaking — you can see the hotel rise above the trees with its beautiful grounds and commanding view. A car is definitely needed for this property, but that’s part of its charm, and there are several lovely nearby attractions such as Schloss Drachenburg and the Heisterbach Abbey ruins (Klosterruine Heisterbach), both worth a visit. The hotel itself is somewhat of a time capsule — vast, iconic, and full of atmosphere, though it could benefit from a careful renovation to bring it in line with modern luxury standards. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy, all reasonably priced given the setting. My room was enormous, easily 50 square meters excluding the bathroom, with ceilings around three meters high. The stone floors added a certain grandeur but made the space feel a little cold — modern carpeting would help make it cozier. Lighting was pleasant, if traditional. The furnishings felt somewhat sparse for the size of the room, and the sofa was on the small and firm side. The bed was comfortable, and the pillow menu was a very welcome touch. Breakfast via room service was exceptional value — extensive, well-prepared, and generously portioned, with no hidden tray or service charges. Probably one of the nicest hotel breakfasts I’ve had in some time. The bathroom was spacious and attractive, with a large stone shower and carved shelving for amenities. Layout was a little unconventional but ventilation was good and there was no water spillage. My room faced the terrace and trees rather than the valley, but it was still a pleasant and quiet view. The property’s immense scale becomes clear as you navigate between wings and elevators — it’s almost a world of its own. I’ve been visiting this hotel since childhood, and it has always struck me as mysterious, grand, and full of history. Probably the most interesting and luxurious hotel in the Bonn area, and still a property that inspires a sense of occasion every time I return.

A Truly Memorable Stay – Thanks to a Wonderful Team! I recently had the pleasure of staying at this incredible hotel, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment of booking to the day of check-out, everything was handled with warmth, care, and a personal touch that made this trip truly special. A heartfelt thank you to Sophia (Guest Relations) for the beautiful handwritten birthday note – such a thoughtful gesture that absolutely made my day and added a personal touch I’ll never forget. A huge shoutout as well to Katinka (Reservations Manager) for going above and beyond to ensure every special request was honored. Her attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction played a big role in making our stay seamless and perfect. The entire team at the hotel was genuinely warm, kind, and welcoming – creating an atmosphere that felt both luxurious and homey. We left with wonderful memories and are already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended!

I’ve stayed at several Steigenberger hotels across Germany — from Berlin to Munich — and always had good experiences. Unfortunately, the Steigenberger Hotel in Königswinter was very disappointing. At the Terrace Restaurant, the staff preferred to chat with each other instead of serving guests. I also witnessed a family of foreigners being ignored, while other customers who came after them were served right away. That was very upsetting to see. If management doesn’t address this kind of behavior, it seems like they are encouraging it.
