Self-Work Bonn | Courses & Calendar
The Self-Work Bonn is not a traditional event location, but an open workshop and a shared workspace in Bonn-Beuel. The operators describe the place as a space for possibilities for co-design, cultural exchange, and collaborative work. Those who come here use work areas, workshops, and open times, working hourly, daily, or via subscription as needed, and are supported by volunteer professionals. The address is In den Wiesen 17A in 53227 Bonn, and the management of workshop hours through the calendar makes Self-Work a clear point of contact for anyone searching for Self-Work Bonn, Self-Work Bonn Beuel, Self-Work Bonn courses, or Self-Work Bonn calendar. ([selbstwerk-bonn.de](https://selbstwerk-bonn.de/ueber/))
Current Courses and the Workshop Calendar in Bonn-Beuel
The most important source of information is the calendar. On the calendar page, it states that you can come by during the specified opening hours without prior registration and get more information about an event by clicking on the respective date. This is helpful for anyone looking for not just a fixed course series, but an open workshop with flexible hours. The website points out several times that the opening of individual work areas varies weekly and should therefore always be checked in the calendar. So, anyone searching for Self-Work Bonn calendar does not get an empty keyword page but the central schedule of the entire house. ([selbstwerk-bonn.de](https://selbstwerk-bonn.de/kalender/))
The workshop offerings complement the open workshop hours. The workshops page and the specialized pages make it clear that there are introductions, basics, and practical learning units, for example, in woodworking, screen printing, sewing, bicycle repair, and ceramics. Children's workshops are also mentioned at various points. The idea is not passive watching but collaborative learning, touching, and trying out. That is why the term courses fits well here, even if the format is more open and personal than in a traditional school or academy. ([selbstwerk-bonn.de](https://selbstwerk-bonn.de/workshops/))
Anyone wanting to know if a workshop is open should combine the calendar with the specialized pages. The workshop pages do mention standard hours, but several pages explicitly point out that individual offerings currently only run according to the weekly calendar. This keeps the offerings flexible and can respond to volunteer availability, machine occupancy, and workshops. This is practical if you want to not just plan a project but actually implement it, as you need to consider different opening hours, costs, and prerequisites depending on the work area. ([selbstwerk-bonn.de](https://selbstwerk-bonn.de/kalender/))
Workshops for Wood, Metal, and Larger Projects
The woodworking shop is one of the technically strongest areas in the house. Mentioned are format circular saw, miter saw, table drill, surface planer, band saw, table milling machine, edge sander, lathe, and various electric hand tools. This makes the space interesting for furniture construction, cutting, repairs, and creative pieces. The opening hours are Monday and Tuesday from 5 PM to 10 PM, with the website always referring to the weekly calendar. Those planning longer projects can even rent storage space, and the conversion of a van is explicitly mentioned as a possible undertaking. ([selbstwerk-bonn.de](https://selbstwerk-bonn.de/holzwerkstatt/?utm_source=openai))
The metal workshop complements the woodworking offerings with welding, sawing, drilling, grinding, milling, and other work steps, which are classified as machine work in the pricing structure. It is open on Mondays from 5 PM to 8:30 PM, and here too: Please check the calendar, as the open workshop can adjust to the actual weekly schedule. For people who want to learn metalworking or approach their own project more professionally, the clear combination of machines, instruction, and volunteer support is particularly valuable. Together, wood and metal show why search queries like workshop Bonn, self-help workshop Bonn, or workshop subscription Bonn make sense here: Self-Work offers not only space but also infrastructure. You get workbenches, machines, tools, storage options, and assistance with operation. This makes larger individual projects, renovations, and repairs possible without having to acquire everything yourself. ([selbstwerk-bonn.de](https://selbstwerk-bonn.de/metallwerkstatt/))
Ceramics, Screen Printing, and Sewing: Creative Techniques to Participate
In the pottery workshop, hand-building is used, and several potter's wheels are available once a wheel crash course has been completed. The workshop typically fires every two to three weeks, and only pieces made on-site will be fired. Those planning should also be aware of the practical guidelines: For the kiln, works up to about 15 centimeters in height or diameter are recommended, finished blanks are stored for two months and then recycled, and dogs are not allowed for safety reasons. The area is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 PM to 9 PM. ([selbstwerk-bonn.de](https://selbstwerk-bonn.de/toepferwerkstatt/))
The printing workshop is aimed at anyone wanting to try out textile motifs. There are prepared screens, water-based colors, and the option to bring your own textiles or buy selected pieces on-site. The website explicitly states that no prior experience is necessary and that workshops teach the basics of screen printing. The printing workshop is open on the first and third Thursday from 6 PM to 9 PM. In the sewing workshop, it continues with sewing machines, overlock, cobbler sewing machine, fabric knowledge, repairs like holes and shortening pants, as well as more complex projects according to patterns. This makes the area particularly suitable for search queries related to Self-Work Bonn courses, photos, or creative workshops. ([selbstwerk-bonn.de](https://selbstwerk-bonn.de/druckwerkstatt/?utm_source=openai))
Particularly exciting is the combination idea of the house: fabric can be designed in the printing workshop and then processed into a unique piece in the sewing workshop. This interplay of technique and design is a core feature of Self-Work. It appeals to people who want to learn something new, but also to those who already know what they want to build or change. Thus, a single visit quickly becomes a multi-stage project that logically connects from the idea to the finished result. ([selbstwerk-bonn.de](https://selbstwerk-bonn.de/werkstaetten/))
Bicycle Workshop and Repair Café: Repair Instead of Discarding
If you want to repair a bicycle in Bonn, you will find a very concrete workshop here with tools and practical support. The website mentions, among other things, assembly stands, wheel alignment sets, spoke wrenches, and torque wrenches; common spare parts can also be purchased directly on-site. No prior knowledge is required, as experienced experts provide support and teach the basics of bicycle repair in workshops. The regular opening time is Thursday from 6 PM to 8 PM; additionally, the workshop is also open upon request if possible. ([selbstwerk-bonn.de](https://selbstwerk-bonn.de/fahrradwerkstatt/?utm_source=openai))
The Repair Café follows the same idea, but for household items: people bring broken things and repair them together with support, from small glue jobs to work on the sewing machine. The service is free, but donations are gladly accepted to provide materials and further develop the project. Together with the bicycle workshop and textile area, this creates a clear focus on sustainability, which is not only practical but also socially very valuable in Bonn-Beuel. Especially for people searching for self-help workshop Bonn, this area is important because here help for self-help is taken literally. Self-Work provides tools, experience, and space, but the repair happens together. This way, one learns not only one-time solutions but also skills that are useful for further projects. ([selbstwerk-bonn.de](https://selbstwerk-bonn.de/repair-cafe/?utm_source=openai))
Prices, Subscription, Opening Hours, and Practical Planning
The current pricing structure is transparent and designed for different usage intensities. For manual work, the website states 8 euros per hour or 60 euros per month; for machine work, 14 euros per hour or 90 euros per month. There are also special services, storage fees, and offers for larger or commercial projects. Payment is made on-site by card; cash payment has not been accepted since early 2016. This is helpful for visitors, as the costs remain clear and calculable before the first workshop visit. ([selbstwerk-bonn.de](https://selbstwerk-bonn.de/preise/))
The address is In den Wiesen 17A, 53227 Bonn. The office is staffed Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM; the workshop hours themselves depend on the respective area and the calendar. Additionally, there is a central contact structure with emails for wood, metal, ceramics, screen printing, textiles, bicycles, and Repair Café. So, if you are planning your arrival, parking, or an appointment, you should not rely on a single permanent opening time but use the weekly overview. This makes planning reliable: you know when to leave, what it will cost you, and whom to contact with questions. For navigation, the location page also refers to a map view and a What3Words description, which further simplifies the first visit. ([selbstwerk-bonn.de](https://selbstwerk-bonn.de/standort/?utm_source=openai))
History, Community, and Participation in Self-Work
The emergence of Self-Work has been described as a gradual build-up: Initially, there was a plan to expand into a large neighboring hall, where various workshop areas would be created, from woodworking and metalworking to textiles and ceramics, as well as a craft workshop for children. From this development, a place has become one that is now open, versatile, and supported by volunteers. The operators explicitly call Self-Work a place of encounter, co-design, and cultural exchange. ([selbstwerk-bonn.de](https://selbstwerk-bonn.de/wir-starten-der-stand-der-dinge/))
Also important is the non-profit character. In the texts, Self-Work is described as a non-profit organization or gUG (limited liability), supported by commitment, donations, and a team of volunteers. Anyone who wants can work alongside, support in the workshop teams, or help through sponsorship and donations. This turns a workshop into more than just a place to work: a community emerges where knowledge is passed on and projects grow together. The social media links on the website also show that Self-Work is not only present locally but also digitally. Instagram and Facebook serve as complementary channels, while Telegram and WhatsApp support quick exchanges. This is helpful for search queries for photos, impressions, or current information, as visual and short-term hints often connect with the weekly calendar. ([selbstwerk-bonn.de](https://selbstwerk-bonn.de/ueber/))
Ultimately, Self-Work Bonn fits particularly well with search queries that refer to an open workshop in Bonn-Beuel, courses, calendar, gUG, or self-help workshop. The combination of fixed work areas, flexible hours, clear rates, and volunteer support ensures that ideas can become real projects. That is the charm of the place: it is not just about a location but about a functioning toolbox for creativity, repair, and collaborative learning. My son (8 years old) participated in the tool license holiday workshop. He had a great time and learned a lot; the instructors are extremely dedicated and great with children. We celebrated his birthday party there with the theme of working with wood. All the children had a great time, it was totally relaxed, and we are thrilled. Thank you so much, keep up the great work!

I had a screen printing workshop with Raimund and Lisa yesterday. I felt very well taken care of; the techniques and basics were explained clearly, and the team was available to answer questions. The group size was perfect. I'll definitely be back. Thank you so much, you lovely people! 😊

I received a very warm welcome from Christoph. He enthusiastically showed me the many opportunities to develop my creativity and skills at SelbstWerk. I was particularly impressed by the professional and comprehensive introduction to welding – ideal for gaining initial experience or discovering a passion for metalworking. Overall, an inspiring place with wonderful people. I'm already looking forward to working on one of my next projects there soon!
