Cultural Pub Brotfabrik | Menu & Photos
The Cultural Pub Brotfabrik is the hospitable address in the cultural center Brotfabrik in Bonn-Beuel, located at Kreuzstraße 16. Those who stop by here are usually looking for not just a meal or a drink, but a place that works before or after cinema, theater, dance, courses, and other events in the house. The official site describes the pub as a place to strengthen oneself before the program or to wind down together afterwards. This makes it perfect for the short distances within the building and for an audience that naturally connects culture and everyday life. ([brotfabrik-bonn.de](https://brotfabrik-bonn.de/))
The atmosphere is consciously open and unexcited. In summer, life shifts to the courtyard, the Gallery Foyer // Brotfabrik shows changing exhibitions in the pub, and the cultural pub is embedded in a house with many genres and people who work, rehearse, play, learn, and perform there. The cultural center sees itself as a place with low-threshold access, without income barriers, and according to its own representation, it reaches around 150,000 visitors and participants annually. It is exactly this mix of neighborhood, culture, and encounter that makes the charm of the Cultural Pub: it is not an isolated restaurant, but part of a larger cultural cosmos. ([brotfabrik-bonn.de](https://brotfabrik-bonn.de/))
Menu, Weekly Specials, and Dishes in the Cultural Pub Brotfabrik
The online menu of the Cultural Pub is clearly structured and immediately shows where the focus lies: food, drinks, and events are the three main areas of the website. On the food page, you will find focaccia, appetizers and small dishes, salads, and warm dishes. The artisanal character of the kitchen is particularly important, as the focaccia is offered as homemade Italian flatbread as a sandwich. Even with the smaller dishes, it becomes clear that here, rather than unnecessary show, honest cooking is emphasized. There are aioli, marinated olives, antipasti vegetables, a starter plate, various salads with homemade balsamic mustard vinaigrette, and warm plate dishes. Some dishes are vegan, others can be made vegan. This covers different preferences without losing its clear, Mediterranean-influenced line. ([kulturkneipebrotfabrik.de](https://www.kulturkneipebrotfabrik.de/menu/essen/))
Those browsing the menu will find a mix of classic and down-to-earth dishes that fit well with a cultural evening. Among other things, focaccia with goat cheese or sheep cheese, focaccia antipasti, a red lentil coconut curry soup, grilled sheep cheese, penne arrabiata, penne amatriciana, penne pesto, homemade cheese spaetzle, and fried potatoes are mentioned. The main page of the Brotfabrik also mentions weekly specials, seasonal dishes, and the wine of the month, which emphasizes the impression of a kitchen that not only offers standards but regularly delivers small surprises. This is particularly attractive for guests who want to stay after a theater visit or a film: you get not just a quick snack, but a menu that can be understood as an evening companion. ([kulturkneipebrotfabrik.de](https://www.kulturkneipebrotfabrik.de/menu/essen/))
Directions, Map, and Parking at Kreuzstraße 16
The Cultural Pub Brotfabrik is located in Bonn-Beuel at Kreuzstraße 16. For many visitors, this is a well-accessible address because the official website describes several ways to the house very concretely. Those coming by tram from downtown Bonn take line 62 towards Ramersdorf or Oberkassel to the stop Obere Wilhelmstraße and walk about five minutes from there. Line 66 towards Siegburg is also an option, then you get off at Konrad-Adenauer-Platz and walk about ten minutes. Additionally, bus lines 603, 607, 608, and 609 are mentioned, which stop at Doktor-Weis-Platz, and from there it’s just a short walk. The routes are therefore not complicated, but clearly signposted and easy to follow for a spontaneous visit. ([brotfabrik-bonn.de](https://brotfabrik-bonn.de/))
There are also practical tips for cyclists and drivers. Numerous bicycle parking spaces are available at the entrance of the Brotfabrik, making the location very pleasant in everyday life. With a car, the situation is a bit tighter: there are only a small number of parking spaces on the premises, including an underground garage. The Brotfabrik also mentions the adjacent side streets and the parking garage at Beueler Rathaus as additional options. For guests, this means in practice: if you want to arrive relaxed in the evening, either plan some time for parking search or come by bus, train, or bicycle. For the search intent of map and directions, this is important, as the official route is precise, but the location remains urban and lively rather than equipped with extensive parking spaces. ([brotfabrik-bonn.de](https://brotfabrik-bonn.de/))
Photos, Courtyard, and Atmosphere of the Cultural Pub
Those searching for photos of the Cultural Pub Brotfabrik are usually looking for not just an image, but a feeling: How big is the space, how does the light work, and does the mood fit an evening with friends, a date, or a quick meal before the event? The official Brotfabrik page gives a good direction on this. There, the pub is described as a place where you can drink and eat something before the course or cinema, dance or theater, and in summer also sit in the courtyard. This makes the atmosphere easy to imagine: more approachable than glamorous, more cultured than loud, more a meeting point for people from the house and the neighborhood than an anonymous nightlife temple. This is exactly the strength of such places, as they do not rely on superficial effects, but on a credible interplay of culture and hospitality. ([brotfabrik-bonn.de](https://brotfabrik-bonn.de/))
The Cultural Pub is also shown in the context of the Brotfabrik as part of a house with many impression areas. The official site has a section with impressions from the Brotfabrik, and the pub appears there as part of a larger cultural ensemble. For the visual effect, three things are particularly decisive: the courtyard in summer, the exhibition references of the Gallery Foyer // Brotfabrik, and the small stage, which gives the space a mix of gastronomy and event venue. The area of the cultural pub is stated to be 130 square meters, plus there is a small stage of 2 x 3 meters and technology available upon request. This results in a space that is not oversized but has enough character to function as a place to stay, a small stage, and a social meeting point. ([brotfabrik-bonn.de](https://brotfabrik-bonn.de/))
Jazz Bakery and Events on the Small Stage
A special feature of the Cultural Pub Brotfabrik is the Jazz Bakery. According to the official website, this concert series takes place once a month. Various artists get the opportunity to present themselves to an audience on the small stage, and admission is free. This is a strong profile feature for a cultural pub because it directly connects the gastronomic space with live culture. Guests come not only to eat or drink but can easily link the evening with music or a short concert. Especially in a house like the Brotfabrik, where various cultural genres come together anyway, this feels particularly coherent and not like a forced additional program. ([kulturkneipebrotfabrik.de](https://www.kulturkneipebrotfabrik.de/veranstaltungen/jazzbaeckerei/))
The small stage is not just decorative but part of the identity of the space. The official description states a stage size of 2 x 3 meters and technology available upon request. This shows that the Cultural Pub is designed for compact formats: small performances, musical evenings, conversation situations, and events with immediate proximity to the audience. It is exactly in this closeness that the charm lies. You do not sit far from the stage, but close by, with a view of the action and in a setting that has more the character of a lively salon than that of a classical concert hall. Therefore, anyone looking for events in the Cultural Pub should definitely keep an eye on the Jazz Bakery, as it is the most clearly publicly communicated format in the own program. ([brotfabrik-bonn.de](https://brotfabrik-bonn.de/))
Cultural Center Brotfabrik: Rooms, Diversity, and History
The Cultural Pub is just one part of a larger whole. The Brotfabrik is organized as a cultural center and is operated by a sponsoring association that bundles cultural operations located in the former Brotfabrik Germania. The official website mentions, among other things, an educational institution, Brotfabrik stage, Bonn Cinematheque, Film Culture Bonn support association, Theater Marabu, Dance Works Vaněk Preuß, Dance Generator Bonn, Dance Workshop for Children and Young People, Gallery Brotfabrik, and Ton25 Music Production. This structure makes it clear that the Brotfabrik is not intended as a single venue, but as a house with many specialized actors who complement each other. This is why the Cultural Pub does not seem detached, but as a social center within a very diverse cultural house. ([brotfabrik-bonn.de](https://brotfabrik-bonn.de/))
The history of the house is closely linked to reconstruction, further development, and cultural opening. An official technical article describes that the cultural center has emerged from a formerly renovated bread factory and has developed over decades into a place with a strong artistic and socio-cultural orientation. The article also emphasizes the special mix of professional art, cinema, contemporary dance, theater for young audiences and adults, exhibitions, educational work, and participatory projects. The Brotfabrik is described as a place with a history of around 37 years. This shows: it is not about short-term trends, but about grown cultural work that has remained visible in Bonn over long periods. ([brotfabrik-bonn.de](https://brotfabrik-bonn.de/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/KulturzentrumArtikel.pdf))
Particularly interesting is the development since 2021. At that time, catalyzed by the pandemic, a transformation process began to position the house for the future and open it more to the urban society. Former storage rooms were made multifunctionally usable, the large courtyard was made car-free as part of a municipal mobility concept, and the entire area received bicycle parking spaces. For visitors to the Cultural Pub, this is relevant because it shows how much the Brotfabrik relies on contemporary accessibility. At the same time, the cultural DNA remains intact: low-threshold, intergenerational, open to different groups, and with a program that reaches around 150,000 people annually. The pub is therefore not only gastronomy but part of a cultural strategy that connects encounters, exchange, and everyday use. ([brotfabrik-bonn.de](https://brotfabrik-bonn.de/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/KulturzentrumArtikel.pdf))
Opening Hours, Contact, and Practical Tips for Visiting
For a successful visit, practical data is crucial. According to the official website, the Cultural Pub Brotfabrik is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 6 PM, and the kitchen operates from 6 PM to 10 PM. Contact can be made via the phone number 0228 - 180 330 38 and by email at kontakt@kulturkneipebrotfabrik.de. Those using the website will also find the areas of food, drinks, events, and contact clearly organized in the menu. This is practical if you want to quickly check what is currently available, what drinks are offered, or when the next event takes place. For guests specifically looking for the menu or opening hours, this is a clear advantage because the most important information is gathered directly on the website. ([kulturkneipebrotfabrik.de](https://www.kulturkneipebrotfabrik.de/menu/essen/))
A visit is often most sensible in connection with the rest of the house program. The Cultural Pub works particularly well before a cinema visit, after a theater performance, or as a meeting point after a rehearsal, a course, or an event in the cultural center. Those visiting the Brotfabrik for the first time can easily align their orientation with the official directions: the paths are clear, bicycle parking spaces are available, and the parking situation is honestly described. This mix of transparency and everyday practicality makes the place sympathetic. If you also keep an eye on the menu, the evening can be planned very simply: first arrive, then eat in peace, maybe have a drink, and then take advantage of the cultural offerings of the house. This way, a simple restaurant visit quickly turns into a typical Brotfabrik evening. ([brotfabrik-bonn.de](https://brotfabrik-bonn.de/))

An interesting place to eat something and take a beer, and if you're lucky, to see some live performance!

On January 31, 2026, I planned to have a few beers and something to eat. Upon our arrival, there were several tables free, but they were all full of dirty dishes. We waited about 10 minutes at the bar to ask which table we could sit at. There was no communication, no inquiries, the bartender acted as if we weren't there. We then sat at an uncleared table, where we waited another 15 minutes. During this time, no one came, the table wasn't cleared, and we weren't served. Meanwhile, guests who arrived after us were served normally. So I don't know if we were intentionally ignored or if the bartender just didn't care. I've been here several times in the past and didn't have any major issues. However, after today's experience, I have no intention of visiting this place again or spending even a cent there.

I think this is a really nice location to meet friends, to eat or drink something before or after the cinema. I've also been here with larger groups and everyone felt very comfortable. It's affordable, the people are nice and friendly, and you can also request special wishes regarding the food, and they were promptly fulfilled.

A nice, simple establishment with accompanying facilities (cinema, dancing, etc.). But I didn't go in there. In the foyer, there are paintings, just like in the bar itself. The bar is spacious and in some ways even cozy, though the selection is quite limited. You can only eat some focaccia or soup here (I think I saw it), the rest are just basic snacks. There's hardly any dark beer - only Leffe. On tap, there are three types of beer: Kölsch, Pils, and another one, the rest is bottled. The staff is friendly and responsive.
