Artist Forum Bonn | Exhibitions & Opening Hours

The Artist Forum Bonn is one of the most important addresses for contemporary art in the federal city and is located at Hochstadenring 22–24 in the Macke district, directly in an environment characterized by art, exchange, and short distances. In immediate proximity are the Bonn Art Association, the gkg Society for Art and Design, and the August Macke House Museum, making the location a prominent art spot in Bonn's west for years. The house was founded in 1987 by artists and is still self-managed today, understanding itself as an open space for exhibitions, readings, concerts, discussions, and interdisciplinary projects. It is particularly attractive for visitors that admission to exhibitions is free, keeping the house easily accessible. The official website also shows that the program is continuously updated and that the Artist Forum functions not only as a classic exhibition venue but also as a lively meeting point for culture, education, and encounters. Those looking for current exhibitions, opening hours, directions, parking, or photos can quickly find the most important information on the official pages. Exhibitions and Program at the Artist Forum Bonn

The program of the Artist Forum Bonn is clearly focused on contemporary art and a variety of formats. The official website describes the house as a place for regional and international art and cultural exchanges, for education and youth promotion, as well as for interdisciplinary projects and encounters between cultural creators and the audience. Up to ten exhibitions per year, along with workshops, concerts, readings, discussions, and dance theater, shape the character of the house. Particularly important is the focus on group exhibitions: According to the FAQ, the emphasis is deliberately on joint projects so that as many artists as possible can participate and creative processes can unfold among them. This is a clear difference from houses that primarily show solo exhibitions and makes the location particularly relevant for search queries like artist forum bonn exhibitions or artist forum bonn program. ([kuenstlerforum-bonn.de](https://www.kuenstlerforum-bonn.de/kuenstlerforum/kuenstlerforum-ueber-uns/))

A look at the current and upcoming program points shows how broad the house is set up. For 2026, the website announces, among other things, the 28th Youth Art Prize of the BBK Bonn/Rhein-Sieg, the exhibition State of Affairs with students from the Alanus University of Art and Society, Portrait – the I in the Image by the Bonn artist group, Chronofragment as a group exhibition, and the audio installation The Dialogue. Formats such as East Meets West, Art Wins the Future, and the World Visions Festival were also shown in 2025 and 2026. The program is therefore not static but follows a mix of artistic production, youth promotion, and socially relevant themes. Especially for visitors who are looking for not just a single event but a whole exhibition landscape, the Artist Forum Bonn is therefore a location with high recognizability. The open structure of the house ensures that new visual and content-related approaches continually emerge. ([kuenstlerforum-bonn.de](https://www.kuenstlerforum-bonn.de/kuefo-ausstellunge-bis-juli-2026/))

For search intentions related to the World Visions Festival, Youth Art Prize, or current exhibition dates, the curatorial background is also important. The sponsoring association decides together with the planning curatorium about the program; representatives from artist groups, the BBK Bonn/Rhein-Sieg, and the Alanus University are involved there. This structure shows that the house does not randomly compile its offerings but develops them collaboratively and with a clear artistic claim. In this way, presentations arise that address both current trends in contemporary art and make local networks visible. This explains why the Artist Forum Bonn frequently appears in search queries with exhibitions, program, events, or current calendar. Those who want to orient themselves should therefore always first look at the program posts, as they document durations, openings, and accompanying events. Opening Hours, Admission, and Visitor Information

The opening hours for visiting the Artist Forum Bonn are clearly and simply regulated. It is open Tuesday to Friday and on public holidays from 3 PM to 6 PM, Saturday from 2 PM to 5 PM, and Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM. These times are consistently mentioned on the visitor page and several official subpages, allowing visitors to reliably plan their visit. Particularly helpful is that the opening hours are not only listed on one subpage but are repeated throughout the entire official appearance; this facilitates quick orientation on smartphones as well as planning a spontaneous visit. For a location in the center of Bonn, this is a relevant SEO and service factor, as many people specifically search for artist forum bonn opening hours or also artist forum bonn free admission. ([kuenstlerforum-bonn.de](https://www.kuenstlerforum-bonn.de/kuenstlerforum/besuch/))

Admission to exhibitions is free, but exceptions may apply for events. This is important for visitor planning, as the Artist Forum not only shows classic exhibitions but also hosts formats with concert, performance, or workshop character. The official FAQ page also points out that for non-publicly funded projects, transport and setup are the responsibility of the artists and must be covered at their own expense, and that the exhibited works generally need to be insured by the artists themselves. For the audience, this shows: The house is open and accessible, but operates professionally and with clear organizational rules behind the scenes. Additionally, the ground floor is barrier-free, making the visit easier for people with mobility impairments. There is a parking option available upon request in front of the building, including a barrier-free parking space. This is also part of the practical information that seekers often want to know directly before visiting an exhibition or event. Directions, Parking, and Location at Hochstadenring

The Artist Forum Bonn is centrally located in Bonn's west at Hochstadenring 22–24, 53119 Bonn. For public transport access, the official visitor page lists several specific options. Tram lines 16, 18, 63, 66, 67, and 68 reach the Bonn West station; from there it is about an 8-minute walk. Additionally, bus lines 550, 604, and 605 go to the Frankenbad / Kunstverein station, which is diagonally across from the Artist Forum. Another good option is the Stadthaus Bonn station, which is accessible by tram lines 61, 62, 66, and 67 as well as bus lines 550, 602, 604, 605, and N1; from there, the walk to the Artist Forum takes about 10 minutes. This makes the house well connected for both spontaneous city visits and planned exhibition evenings. ([kuenstlerforum-bonn.de](https://www.kuenstlerforum-bonn.de/kuenstlerforum/besuch/))

For parking, the official website recommends the parking garage at Stadthaus Bonn. Additionally, it is possible to reserve a barrier-free parking space in front of the Artist Forum upon request. This is a significant practical advantage, especially during events, openings, or visits with limited mobility. The location in the Macke district enhances the impression of a compact art quarter, as several institutions that shape the artistic character of the quarter, such as the Bonn Art Association, the gkg, and the August Macke House Museum, are in direct proximity. Therefore, those searching for artist forum bonn parking or artist forum bonn directions will not find an isolated place but a culturally well-connected location where several art addresses can be reached within a few minutes on foot. This urban-cultural embedding is precisely what makes the house appealing and explains why a visit can be easily combined with a stroll through the district. ([kuenstlerforum-bonn.de](https://www.kuenstlerforum-bonn.de/kuenstlerforum/besuch/))

Architecture, Spaces, and Equipment for Art and Events

The spatial qualities of the Artist Forum Bonn are a central part of its attractiveness. On the official about us page, the architecture is described with around 600 square meters of space, complemented by rooms with heights of up to 6 meters. There is also a separate media room and a conference room with internet access that can be used for seminars and workshops. This combination of exhibition space, high spatial impact, and functional infrastructure makes the house flexible for different artistic formats. For contemporary art, this is particularly valuable because installations, painting, sculpture, media works, and mixed presentation forms each bring different spatial requirements. Therefore, those searching for artist forum bonn space plan or artist forum bonn events do not randomly encounter a program house but a place that has been consciously designed for various uses. A download link to the floor plan is also available on the website, which is especially practical for exhibiting groups and curators. ([kuenstlerforum-bonn.de](https://www.kuenstlerforum-bonn.de/kuenstlerforum/kuenstlerforum-ueber-uns/))

Organizationally, the house is also prepared for exhibitions and events. The FAQ points out that the building is protected by an alarm system and that for non-publicly funded projects, transport, setup, and technical commissioning are generally the responsibility of the artists. This information is important for artists but also shows the audience that the house is operated in a clearly structured manner. The combination of a self-managed sponsoring association, a support association, and a planning curatorium ensures that the building is not just a space but a collaboratively supported cultural project. For visitors, the result is a special mix: on one hand, a professional exhibition situation, on the other hand, a noticeably collegial and open environment. Especially in search queries asking about space, capacity, or hall plan, the honest answer is important: The Artist Forum Bonn describes its areas and functional rooms very precisely but does not provide a classic seating capacity like a concert hall. It is therefore primarily a versatile art and event location and not a standardized hall with fixed seating. ([kuenstlerforum-bonn.de](https://www.kuenstlerforum-bonn.de/kuenstlerforum/kuenstlerforum-ueber-uns/))

Photos, Images, and the Cultural Profile of the House

Those looking for photos, images, or visual impressions from the Artist Forum Bonn will quickly find them on the official website. The homepage and program posts feature many visual motifs related to exhibitions, events, and art projects. This already creates a visual impression of the character of the house online, even if a separate official image gallery is not in the foreground. For seekers who want to see not only opening hours but also images of the Artist Forum Bonn, this is a relevant hint: The website itself is already a visual showcase of the ongoing program. The homepage presents the posts with images, and the individual exhibition pages like State of Affairs or Portrait – the I in the Image contain several image panels and documentation photos. In this way, the house directly supports the type of user intention behind search queries like artist forum bonn photos or images of artist forum bonn. ([kuenstlerforum-bonn.de](https://www.kuenstlerforum-bonn.de/))

In terms of content, the Artist Forum Bonn describes itself as a space for contemporary art, regional and international collaboration, education, youth promotion, interdisciplinary projects, and encounters between cultural creators and visitors. This is more than just a pure exhibition operation. The official about us page emphasizes that the house is open to versatile collaborations and participates in socially relevant discussions with thematic group exhibitions. This gives rise to its cultural profile: It is not only about showcasing art but about negotiating perspectives and exchanging between different groups of actors. The website also shows that the planning curatorium consists of representatives from several artist groups, the Alanus University, the BBK Bonn/Rhein-Sieg, and other initiatives. This structure strengthens the role of the house as a networking place. Therefore, those looking for a place where art is not created in isolation but in dialogue will find the Artist Forum Bonn to be a well-established and very open location in Bonn. ([kuenstlerforum-bonn.de](https://www.kuenstlerforum-bonn.de/kuenstlerforum/kuenstlerforum-ueber-uns/))

World Visions Festival, Youth Art Prize, and Special Formats

A particularly exciting example of the program diversity is the World Visions Festival, which took place on November 8 and 9, 2025, at the Artist Forum Bonn. According to the official announcement, it was the first festival of its kind in the house and offered a diverse program of presentations, participatory offerings, and performances by and for young people. Results from numerous workshops from Bonn and the Rhein-Sieg district, which were created as part of the educational and creative project Our World, Our Visions, were presented. Thematically, it dealt with questions such as peace, mindful coexistence, and creatively rethinking relevant contemporary issues. The festival combined drawing, film, dance, and Dada interpretations, exemplifying how broad the concept of an event is at the Artist Forum Bonn. For search queries like world visions festival artist forum bonn November 8 or 9, this official source is particularly relevant as it provides specific dates, content, and the educational-artistic claim. ([kuenstlerforum-bonn.de](https://www.kuenstlerforum-bonn.de/kuefo-weltvisionen-festival-8-9-11-25/?utm_source=openai))

Looking at the follow-up program also shows that the Artist Forum Bonn does not only rely on individual events but develops long-term collaborations. The project Our World, Our Visions – Discover, Experience, Change runs from 2025 to 2027, according to the official announcement, and is organized jointly by the federal city of Bonn, the Rhein-Sieg district, the Artist Forum Bonn, the youth art school in arte fact, the Brotfabrik Bonn, and the Theaterschatz association. At the same time, the 28th Youth Art Prize of the BBK Bonn/Rhein-Sieg in spring 2026 is one of the significant milestones in the annual calendar. This is important for visitors because it shows: The Artist Forum Bonn is not just a place for exhibitions but also a platform for youth culture, mediation, and participatory art formats. Therefore, those getting to know the house usually experience not just a show on the wall but a program that focuses on participation, education, and exchange. This mix is what makes the Artist Forum a culturally very visible address in Bonn. ([kuenstlerforum-bonn.de](https://www.kuenstlerforum-bonn.de/kuefo-ausstellunge-bis-juli-2026/))

I saw "Really now" an exhibition of the alumni from Mr. Orosz's class at the Alanus University of Arts in Alfter. I found the registration personally straightforward. The exhibition is free. The lady at the reception was very friendly. I visited the exhibition twice. There are some technically very good works.. Hyperrealism, linocuts, lithography. Drawings and others in oil. I find the mix of what I find super interesting and what is really interesting or well done is successful there. There are also some works that are a bit dark and imaginative.. I would say it's recommendable. I attached a photo because I know the artist. Posting it should be fine.
