A small but very interesting museum with a special historical atmosphere! The Ernst Moritz Arndt House offers fascinating insights into the life and work of the poet and historian. The exhibition is well-curated, and the charming half-timbered house itself is worth a visit. The lovingly designed rooms, featuring original furniture and documents, are particularly impressive. The museum staff is friendly and happy to answer questions. Anyone interested in history and literature should definitely stop by. A real insider tip in Bonn!

The house is named after the writer and revolutionary Ernst Moritz Arndt (1769-1860). Arndt lived in this house from 1818 to 1860. In 1933, when the house acquired museum status and was given to the city, it was restored, and a beautiful garden was created. Unfortunately, this beautiful appearance was short-lived, as the Arndthaus burned to the ground on October 18, 1944, and was not rebuilt until 1950. Comparing paintings from 1936 and 1983 today, one can see that the house was almost completely reconstructed. The right-hand room on the front side is a memorial room for the house's builder, where the last surviving items and modern paintings are kept. Due to the complete destruction during World War II, these are the last few original items.
