A journey through five rooms, five worlds, and the creative power of humanity
On October 23, 2026, the Rüngsdorfer KulturBad in Bonn will transform into a walkable stage: "LIFE IS LIFE – SO STOP MAKING SENSE" combines interactive performance, installation, and collective discovery into an extraordinary concert experience without a classic concert format. The audience follows actor Sven Gey through five rooms and becomes part of the action.
When the exhibition space becomes a stage
Brian Michaels, a London director for opera, theater, and performance, develops a cultural journey with "LIFE IS LIFE" that dissolves the boundaries between theater, exhibition, and live atmosphere. Each station opens its own world, and every encounter expands the perspective on human ingenuity, memory, and cultural expressions.
Five rooms, five surprising perspectives
The journey begins with British tea culture and its particular significance in difficult times. The performance then leads into the extravagant world of the American dream in Sweden during the 1950s. Another station looks back 9,500 years to an early urban settlement in southern central Turkey.
In the mask room, it’s about transformation, identity, and the invisible forces that have shaped cultures throughout history. The conclusion is "The Hidden Wedding," a story about coincidence, fate, and an unexpected world in Tuscany.
The audience becomes part of the stage performance
Sven Gey not only guides through the installations but also engages directly with the visitors. Drinking tea, singing, building, experimenting, transforming, and weaving stories together are all part of the concept. The audience's mood is created immediately in the space and changes each performance.
Soundscapes, masks, and precise spatial dramaturgy
The artistic design combines model building, mask work, and specially developed soundscapes. Mariel Kepka and Lily Carnahan are responsible for the visual implementation, and the soundscapes are by Theo Palm. The staging works with spatial dramaturgy, acoustic impulses, and direct interaction instead of a classic stage front.
Conclusion: A live experience beyond familiar categories
"LIFE IS LIFE – SO STOP MAKING SENSE" invites you to not only observe culture but to experience it with all your senses. If you want to reconnect theater, performance art, installation, and collective discovery in a new way, you'll experience a special evening filled with movement, encounters, and surprising impressions at the Rüngsdorfer KulturBad.
