Remembering together, understanding, and showing attitude
In the family workshop with ZWEITZEUGEN e.V., families with children aged 10 years and older discover a child-friendly access to the history of the Holocaust. In the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn, participants encounter a personal survival story and learn why remembering remains important today.
A personal story opens access
The workshop conveys knowledge about the time of National Socialism and current anti-Semitism not only through numbers and dates but through a personal life story. This narrative approach creates closeness, encourages listening, and supports an age-appropriate learning experience for children, teenagers, and adults.
Quality family time
The shared experience connects children and parents. Questions, thoughts, and feelings have space as the family engages in conversation. This creates a special family experience full of curiosity, attention, and responsible shared time.
What does being a Secondary Witness mean?
ZWEITZEUGEN e.V. encourages young people to pass on the life stories they have heard and to become secondary witnesses themselves. The workshop thereby strengthens empathy, historical consciousness, and the ability to stand against anti-Semitism and discrimination. Children experience that their voice and actions also count for an open society.
Educationally accompanied and professionally designed
The educational work of ZWEITZEUGEN e.V. combines historical-political education with pedagogical and methodological concepts. Workshop leaders are trained in multiple stages in historical-political, pedagogical, and methodological aspects. The association is also active as a recognized provider of free youth assistance according to § 78 SGB VIII.
Important information for families
The family workshop takes place on Sunday, November 22, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 25 people. Adults pay 8 euros, children 4 euros. Tickets can be purchased at the Bundeskunsthalle box office or in the online shop.
The Bundeskunsthalle operates with protection and hygiene regulations. Please plan enough time for entry and accompany your children during the family offer.
Conclusion: A family experience that resonates
This workshop provides families with shared time, important impulses, and a learning experience of lasting significance. Laughter and lightness are not at the center here, but attentively lived community, respect, and the question of how each generation can take on responsibility. Experience the family workshop live and collectively become secondary witnesses.
