Piano meets Reeds: Jazz, Tango and classical timbres in Bonn
On Sunday, January 17, 2027, Trio Blau invites you to the Evangelical Church of Peace in Bonn. Under the title Piano meets Reeds, Lena Rohde on alto saxophone, Christian Burgmann on tenor saxophone, and Berthold Wicke on piano connect selected works by George Gershwin and Astor Piazzolla with jazz.
When piano and saxophones converse
The unusual trio setup creates a transparent, colorful sound: The piano sets harmonic accents, while the alto and tenor saxophones develop warm lines, rhythmic tension, and melodic dialogues. Gershwin's stylistic openness and Piazzolla's distinctive blend of concert music and tango meet jazz pieces specially composed for this configuration.
Harmonic spirit and rhythmic energy
The focus is on musical synchronization, precise interplay, and the unique sound architecture of piano and reeds. The voices of the saxophones give the program expressive depth, while Berthold Wicke's piano playing ensures rhythmic agility and orchestral colors. This results in a concert evening between jazz, tango, and classical-inspired chamber music.
Live atmosphere in the Church of Peace
The Evangelical Church of Peace in Bonn provides the perfect setting for an immersive concert experience. In the clear acoustics of the church space, melodic details, dynamic contrasts, and the subtle transitions between composition and improvisation can unfold immediately.
Admission free, donations welcome
Admission to Piano meets Reeds is free. Donations are welcome for the emergency pastoral care. This connects the concert evening with musical enjoyment and a social cause.
Conclusion: Trio Blau promises a diverse concert evening featuring Gershwin, Piazzolla, and jazz in an original setting. Those who appreciate saxophone and piano sounds, tango rhythms, and lively chamber music will experience a concert with a special musical profile on January 17, 2027, in Bonn.
