Festive Year-End with Bach's Christmas Oratorio
On New Year's Eve 2026, festive church music combines with a special concert experience at the Evangelical Peace Church Bonn. The organ fireworks will feature Cantata IV from Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio as well as the sound colors of the choir and orchestra under the direction of Johannes Pflüger.
Bach's Music between Comfort and Hope
The fourth cantata of the Christmas Oratorio was composed for New Year's Day. At its center is the naming of Jesus. Bach connects the spiritual text with clear musical architecture, festive orchestration, and an expressive connection between choir, soloists, and instrumental ensemble.
Live Atmosphere in the Peace Church
The acoustics of the church space provide a vibrant sound layer for the voices and instruments. The conducting of Johannes Pflüger leads the choir and orchestra to precise synchronization, while the Peace Organ gives the New Year's Eve a special sound color. This creates a concentrated, festive audience atmosphere between concert, year-end church service, and musical contemplation.
A Musical Moment for the New Year
The concert focuses on comfort, life, and hope. Instead of a loud New Year's Eve party, this organ fireworks emphasizes the lasting impression of great sacred music and invites everyone to consciously let the year 2026 come to a close.
